What’s happening
Your toddler is getting affectionate on purpose now. Those hugs and sloppy kisses aren't accidental. Simple pretend play is starting, like feeding a stuffed animal or talking into a toy phone. They probably have one to three words they use consistently. Pointing is becoming a big communication tool, and they're fascinated by putting things into containers and dumping them out again.
For you
Toddlerhood is a whole new game. It's louder and messier, but those little arms reaching up for a hug make all of it worth it.
