Be thoughtful about what your child sees on screens. At this age they absorb everything, and some content aimed at kids is more intense than it looks. Bathroom independence is growing, but don't leave a young child alone in the bathroom. Wet floors, toilet water, and faucet scalding are all real risks.
They're telling stories now. Real ones. Some are true, some are made up, and some are somewhere in between. All of them are a window into how they see the world.
The 3-year well-child visit includes a comprehensive developmental assessment, vision and hearing screening, and vaccination review.
Schedule the 3-year checkup. Track developmental milestones. Prepare questions about behavior, sleep, diet, and social development.
As children become more confident, they attempt more challenging playground activities. Falls from monkey bars, slides, and climbing structures are common.
Supervise closely at playgrounds. Ensure equipment is age-appropriate. Check for proper safety surfacing under equipment. Teach children to wait their turn.
