Check your windows and balcony doors. Your toddler can push chairs over to climb, and they will. If they're not saying any words yet, mention it at the next pediatrician visit. Most of the time it's nothing to worry about, but early intervention for speech is really effective when it is needed.
Watching your kid imitate the world around them is one of the best parts of this age. You'll catch them doing something you do, and it'll stop you in your tracks.
Mobile toddlers can climb to windows and are at risk for falls. Window screens are not strong enough to prevent falls.
Install window guards or stops that prevent windows from opening more than 4 inches. Keep furniture away from windows. Supervise on balconies.
By 14 months, baby should be using a few words and understanding simple commands. Significant delays may warrant evaluation.
Talk and read to baby frequently. If baby uses no words and doesn't seem to understand simple phrases, discuss with your pediatrician at the next visit.
