If you have stairs, now is the time for gates at the top and bottom. Your baby is mobile and curious, and that combination is relentless. Cover electrical outlets, because those little fingers are exploring every hole and gap they can find. Separation anxiety is also peaking right now, so daycare drop-offs might be rough for a bit.
You're learning your baby's personality now, the real one. The way they light up during peek-a-boo, the way they reach for you specifically. That bond you've been building? It's showing.
Mobile babies can reach stairs quickly and are at high risk for falls. They can climb up but cannot safely come back down.
Install safety gates at the top and bottom of all staircases. Teach baby to go down stairs safely by backing down feet first.
Crawling babies are at the perfect height to explore electrical outlets. They may try to stick fingers or objects into them.
Cover all accessible electrical outlets with outlet covers or plates. Keep cords out of reach and secured.
